“In the current situation…” Russians are sending their long-range bombers

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

They are back!

Not since the days of the missile crisis in Cuba have we seen such defiance from the Russians. But these are different times, and nothing, absolutely nothing should surprise us, “in the current situation.”

And what is this “current situation”? Well, for starters, these are the days when America is no longer respected as the leader of the free world—because the definition of a free world has changed.

You see, “in the current situation” everywhere you turn it is evident that international socialism is in control of entire nations– and their populations don’t even know it. This is called “conditioning”—and the socialists at the United Nations have been working hard at it for decades.

Ex-KGB thug, Vladimir Putin, has the United States exactly where he wants it: ambivalent, lacking leadership and submerged in socialist transformation (Sustainable Development). In other words, a distracted player on the world’s stage, no longer leading.

I’m afraid that this “current situation” will continue to have very negative ramifications for our sovereignty and economy.

Russia’s Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, has stated that, “In the current situation we have to maintain military presence…” As far as Putin is concerned, “in the current situation” somebody has to be in charge. That’s why he is sending his long-range bombers to the Gulf of Mexico.

Vladimir Putin’s Communist friends, the Castro brothers, will surely lend their support… “in the current situation.”

Someone has to say the truth… (Please share it).

Russia decides Ukraine’s future

Opera House in Kiev, Ukraine

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

In my commentary titled Ukraine in the Key of G I covered the tragic reality of Ukraine’s future– and the fact that no matter which way it turns, it will have to choose between worse…. and worse.

Ukraine, which finds itself practically defenseless against Russian military intervention, gave up its nuclear arsenal on December 5, 1994 under the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances– a political agreement providing security promises to Ukraine, by its signators (Russia, the United States, United Kingdom, China and France– the latter gave weaker individual assurances in separate documents).

This memorandum led Ukraine to believe that it would have protection in case of threats or use of force against its territorial integrity or political independence. But it appears that the Budapest Memorandum has not done a bit of good for Ukraine– considering its loss of Crimea and the lack of strong and decisive action by the European Union and the United States concerning the Russian-backed separatist chaos in eastern Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin sees this weakness from the West as a window to assert his power and determination– and reportedly said “if I want to, I can take Kiev in two weeks.”  The recipient of this brutal message was José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, according to the newspaper La Repubblica in Italy.

Meanwhile, Germany’s Chancellor, Angela Merkel, is described as being infuriata con Putin (furious with Putin)– but apparently not furious enough to take a strong stand against him.  She is not alone. The European Union is too afraid to rock the boat– given its strong economic ties with Russia.

The following entry retweeted by Ukraine’s Ambassador-at-Large, Olexander Scherba, describes the EU’s disastrous reaction to the Ukrainian crisis:

Screen Shot 2014-09-03 at 11.47.23 PM

By the way, Ben Judah, whose Twitter entry appears above as Scherba’s retweet, writes for OpenDemocracy– a website supported by the likes of the Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation– who are notorious for their support of population control.  If I were Scherba I would be retweeting and quoting someone else. Unfortunately, traditional values and vetting journalists are not priorities at this point for Ukrainian spokespersons, who are desperately seeking to draw attention to the Ukrainian crisis.

Ambassador Scherba laments how Ukraine is being punished for wanting to be part of the European Union, against Russia’s wishes– and how the EU is turning its back on Ukraine. Scherba has stated that the Ukrainian military forces are running out of weapons and are in need of aircraft.

Ukraine was afraid to be part of NATO under President Viktor Yanukovych– so as not to offend Russia’s sensitivities, when Yanukovych aspired to major economic benefits from Russia.

Now Ukraine wants to be a member of NATO– but NATO is not interested– particularly because extending the alliance into Eurasia is considered a geopolitical threat to the economic interests of the United States, the most powerful member.

It looks like the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroschenko, has accepted the fate of his country by not forcefully objecting to Vladimir Putin’s “cease fire regime” proposal. This puts Russia in control of the terms for eastern Ukraine.

How tragic. European socialism is at work– while Russian communism resurfaces through its expansionist agenda.

Will Ukraine ultimately choose neutrality during this “new” Cold War– as Austria and Finland did during the “old” Cold War?

Do you really think the Cold War ever ended?

I don’t.

Someone has to say the truth… (please share it).

The attack on Flight 17: Will this act of war be forgotten?

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

Flight 17: the aftermath

The gruesome photos of dismembered bodies and pieces of fuselage scattered over a 10-mile radius near the Ukrainian-Russian border— is a scene from hell.  It is a rather painful coincidence that this horrific attack took place on the 96th anniversary of another gruesome event: the execution of the Russian Royal family, by the Bolsheviks.

The attack on Flight 17 is an act of war– which, according to reports, appears to have been perpetrated by individuals who had access to, and operational knowledge of a BUK, which is a Russian-made, medium-range surface-to-air missile system.

While the Ukrainians blame the Russians– and the Russians blame the Ukrainians, intelligence reports from the United Kingdom and Washington are pointing the finger at Vladimir Putin and his Russian-backed separatist forces in eastern Ukraine.

Barack Obama’s initial disconnected remarks about the plane’s crash (“it appears to be a tragedy“) were quite disturbing– even to the point of eliciting criticism from the mainstream media.

A similar disconnected tone was also noted in a joint statement by the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Council in Brussels.

Approximately twenty-four hours later, Obama did some image damage control by presenting a much more somber approach, demanding accountability and calling for an in-depth investigation of the attack. The Europeans followed suit.

It should come as no surprise that during this international socialist era, both the United States government and the European Union are looking towards the United Nations for a plan to address the attack on flight 17.

What?

The United Nations?

Yes, the same United Nations which has elected Cuba and Russia to the Human Rights Council– but somehow forgot to include Ukraine.

As expected, Fidel Castro came out in defense of Russia.

Yes, the same United Nations which has Russia and China as permanent members of the United Nations “Security” Council.

Which begs the question: how can anyone expect that the United Nations is going to legitimately assume the role of decision-maker and justice-seeker in the act of war involving Flight 17– when it protects and elevates terrorist communist governments to positions of leadership?

Ah… but you see, the United Nations is the “new leader” of the world– and you have been conditioned to accept this as a “global citizen.”

Interestingly, a few hours before the attack on Flight 17, I had published a brief commentary on a decision made by a Dutch court, declaring the Netherlands liable for the death of 300 Bosniaks in 1995, who were under the protection of Dutch UN peacekeepers.  This court decision brings into question the reliability of the UN “peacekeeping” forces– when it comes to the protection of innocent civilians in war-torn regions.

How does Flight 17 compare with other planes brought down by a missile attack, gunfire or terrorist-related sabotage?

What about the United States?

Gone are the days of the United States lighting the way in times of war.  Washington has been weakened and disfigured by decades of corruption and lack of moral leadership.

While the remains of 298 innocent victims, including 80 children and some of the world’s top scientists in the field of AIDS research, lie dismembered in the remote fields of eastern Ukraine, innocent people all over the world will continue to be put in harms way, as they wait for justice from the bureaucrats in the United Nations.

This is the tragic reality of our times.

May this act of war not be forgotten– and may the passengers and crew members of Flight 17 rest in the peace of Our Lord.

Someone has to say the truth…

Vladimir Putin visits Fidel and Raúl Castro: The Love Affair Continues

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

Old flames never die...

Ahhhh, I’ve missed you Raúl.  I’ve missed you too, Vlad.

As a survivor of Fidel Castro’s murderous Communist dictatorship– and as one who opposes the aggressive and oppressive international agenda of the homosexual collective against those who disagree with homosexual “marriage”–- I am appalled at the level of ignorance from those who are throwing their support behind Putin and his KGB-infested Russian Orthodox Church, as a solution to this catastrophe. These individuals are basing their enthusiasm on Putin’s farcical Christian proclamations of Russia as a moral world leader.

And for those out there who are running out of excuses– NO, MY CRITICISM OF PUTIN DOES NOT MEAN that Washington and the European Union hold the MORAL high ground. Not at all.

Well, well, well. Surprise. Surprise.

Let’s see what alibi the fans of Vladimir Putin come up with this time. These impressionable and terribly uninformed individuals are falling on their knees, kissing Vladimir Putin’s feet and declaring him their new Christian hero– while Putin kisses communist murderers.

You see, it’s summer time– and the Russians are getting restless for tropical weather, as well as for new financial and military horizons where they can flex their muscles. That is exactly what Vladimir Putin is doing. So he headed straight to Havana– as the first stop in his tour of Latin America.

In Cuba, Putin enjoyed the island breezes, as well as the warm friendship and eternal gratitude of Fidel and Raúl Castro– who are just tickled pink to see their old friend Putin arrive bearing gifts like Santa Claus in the middle of the summer– that is, gifts of pecuniary forgiveness and promises to help finance an adventure down an oil rabbit hole, in Cuba’s coastal waters.

The Telegraph reports [information in brackets added for clarification]:

Mr. Putin laid a wreath at Revolution Square in Havana [Havana’s Memorial to the Soviet Internationalist Soldier] with Raúl Castro, the communist island’s president, and later met for an hour behind closed doors with his older brother Fidel, the long-time former dictator.

The visit was far from ceremonial as Russia agreed to write off 90 per cent of the impoverished island’s $35 billion (£20 billion) debts to Moscow and announced a series of oil and trade initiatives with its ally, a staunch supporter of Mr. Putin during the Ukraine crisis.

Vladimir Putin is playing his devout Christian followers like a drum.

On one hand, Putin claims to oppose homosexuality in Russia and issues proclamations about “Christianity.”  On the other hand, he praises murderous, corrupt communist despots like Fidel and Raúl Castro– whose government pays for homosexual men to have sex-change operations– then incarcerates and tortures them when they dare to complain about government oppression. Is this the fulfillment of Castro’s dream for the creation of a “new man” in his Marxist utopia?

But we, too, have a “new man” in our midst.  The one who has emerged from the pews to support a former KGB thug like Vladimir Putin– who loves and supports Fidel Castro.

Someone has to say the truth…

ANOTHER REALITY CHECK: Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk meeting with Communist representatives of Cuba’s government

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

The Russian Orthodox collaboration with the KGB during the Soviet period is legendary.  Not much has changed.

You see, while Cuban dissidents are beaten, dragged into prison and tortured for peacefully assembling outside of Catholic Churches, the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, carries on, celebrating the long-standing friendship between Cuba’s murderous Communist government and the Russian Orthodox Church.

Many conservative / religious citizens around the world are being fooled by Vladimir Putin and the Russian Orthodox  Church’s administrators, who are saying all the right words to attract them:

They speak about Christianity.

They speak against homosexuality.

They speak about traditional values.

But watch the evil company they keep. As I have said before, these are false messengers of Christianity who are playing both sides.

Please read my previous post titled “REALITY CHECK for fans of Vladimir Putin and Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill”

Here is a detailed screen caption of the meeting held on October 24, 2013 between Metropolitan Hilarion Volokolamsk and Cuban government agents:

UPDATE

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, sent a message to Mr. Martin Schulz, congratulating him on re-election as President of the European Parliament. The election took place on the 1st of July 2014.

It is important to note that Martin Schulz, a passionate supporter of the homosexual collective, has asked that aid be cut to African nations who ban homosexual activism.

A Reality Check for Fans of Vladimir Putin and Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

I am pleased to provide a reality check for those who are floating around in outer space waiting for Vladimir Putin and Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill to shepherd them as Christian warriors.

Vladimir Putin is leading the charge against homosexuality in Russia, while praising Fidel Castro, whose Communist murderous government enjoys paying for sex-change operations (see important related articles below).

HINT… Putin and Kirill are playing both sides.

Sadly, many well-meaning conservative citizens around the world still don’t understand Putin and Kirill’s perfidious game.

Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill are the classic examples of false messengers of Christianity!

Remember… Russia and the European Union are competing for domination of entire regions.  Their goals are the same.

There is Anxiety in Ankara

Featured Post

By Marielena Montesino de Stuart

The Turks are working their worry beads… as chaos surrounds them.

There is a reason Turkey is very nervous these days, particularly when it comes to Crimea.

When Turks think of Crimea they think of the Crimean Khanate, a Turkish-Mongol basal state under the Ottoman Empire, until 1783– when Catherine the Great annexed the region.

As such, it was in Crimea that the Turkish people saw their powerful Ottoman Empire subjected to a major defeat, at the hands of the Russians.

Nothing was ever the same for the Turks– and now history is repeating itself with Russia’s annexation of Crimea under Vladimir Putin.

Ankara's Kocatepe Mosque
Ankara’s Kocatepe Mosque

By the late nineteenth century, the Ottoman Empire had been overwhelmed by Russia– in the Black Sea, the Caucasus and the Balkans. The only hope the Turks had left was to kindle Moslem Tatar unrest in Crimea.

In addition to the Russian Empire, Ukraine and its Crimean peninsula have been under the domination of various powers, including the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Poland — as well as under the boot of the former Soviet Union. This is why this region is considered Europe’s main theater of war.

Crimea is a symbol of victory for Russia. But Turks never forgot the power and influence they once held over the area; consequently, the Ottoman Empire entered World War I by attacking Crimea’s harbor in Sevastopol and destroying Russia’s ability to command the Black Sea during WWI.

The Marxist takeover of Russia thwarted Turkey’s plans– eventually leading to a cooperation between Moscow and Ankara, known as the Treaty of Moscow (1921)– a classic case of “if you can’t beat them, join them.” By the time World War II broke out, Turkey had grown used to a “dialogue” of sorts with Moscow– and assumed a position of neutrality.

Ankara, however, felt Moscow’s threat to Turkish sovereignty more and more with Joseph Stalin in the picture. Stalin’s insistence that Soviet ships pass through the Bosporus strait was a scary situation for the Turks. This pressure from the Soviets escalated– leaving Turkey with no option but to “take sides” by joining NATO in 1952.

The above historical trajectory has magnified Turkey’s sometimes advantageous, sometimes  vulnerable geographical position at the edge of Europe– which now has Ankara welcoming European sustainable development (socialist) economic deals, while asserting its Moslem side.

This duality was evident during the visit to Turkey by the Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, and Luxembourg’s Cuban-born Grand Duchess, María Teresa, in November 2013.

With the annexation of Crimea, Turkey faces Russian expansion in the region– reminiscent of Catherine the Great. But Vladimir Putin’s “victory” of annexing Crimea is not due to being a “great” leader; instead, it is due to the military and economic weakness of his neighbors– and his desire to recover the former Soviet Union’s territories.

Putin is an old KGB thug– but he is no fool. He knows that he also needs to win over the Moslem population in Ukraine, including the Tatars, in order to strengthen the Russian sphere of influence in the region’s Moslem communities.

Putin and the Tatars in Crimea

A Crimean Tatar teaching the Koran
A Crimean Tatar teaching the Koran

Putin has assumed that the Crimean Tatars’ Moslem blood will run thicker on the Russian side, than in the waters of their Sunni Turkic origin.

But he is wrong.

Crimean Tatars, who in current times are comprised of Sufis, Taqfirs, Salafis, Jihadis, etc., are less than enthusiastic about living under Russian rule, considering that their history vividly recounts the loss of the Crimean Khanate to Russia. In fact, many Crimean Tatars boycotted the Crimean Referendum– and the leader of the Crimean Tatars’ assembly, Refat Chubarov, has called for a national and autonomous region for Tatars in Crimea.

Furthermore, the memory of being deported by the Soviets in cattle wagons– and dying by the thousands in the process– is still fresh in their minds.

Tatars have been a loud voice against the Russian annexation of Crimea, except for some small groups that feel abandoned by the Ukrainian government in Kiev.

The annexation of Crimea– with its long history of religious ethnic minorities and struggles– is like purchasing an old car: it will require a lot of maintenance. But for Putin, this effort is well worth it– taking into consideration the strategic advantage Russia enjoys by controlling the Crimean peninsula, which includes a prominent presence in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Basin.

This is why Putin was joined by the two highest-ranking Moslem leaders in Russia, during the Crimean annexation ceremony in the Kremlin: Mufti Sheikh-ul-Islam Talgat Tadzhuddin, Chairman of the Central Clerical Administration of Moslems of Russia Supreme, and Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, the Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia. The evidence of their presence during the annexation ceremony was critically important to Putin, as he gains new territory and appeases Tatar Moslem communities– while presenting a farcical Christian front to the rest of the world.

What about the Kremlin conformist, the Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill?

Kirill was absent during the Crimea annexation ceremony.

Well, well, well…

Could it be that Kirill is concerned that the Russian chaos in Ukraine could ruin Russia’s Orthodox plans to be seen as the leader of world Orthodoxy?– an honorary primacy traditionally held by the Patriarch of Constantinople.

If this is the case, numbers will play a big role in Ukraine, where Orthodoxy is deeply divided. There is also unrest amongst Orthodox church members who until now were loyal to Moscow– but are now turning towards Kiev. In addition, there are reports of violence against Catholic and Ukrainian clergy in Crimea.

So far, it looks like Kirill’s friend, Vladimir Putin, is ruining the farcical Christian program at the Kremlin, which Kirill has been supporting.

We will have to wait and see how Patriarch Kirill will proceed, in anticipation of the pan-Orthodox council that will convene in 2016– considered to be their largest and most significant event since 787 AD.

This pan-religious council has the goal of unifying Orthodox Christians in their approach to modern times.

Good luck.

Watch the Kremlin take over this council and control the show.

You see, the Kremlin has controlled the Russian Orthodox Church– from the Soviet period to the present time.

This is another example of why I stress to my readers that Russia, under Vladimir Putin’s control, must not be trusted from a Christian standpoint– no matter how tempting it is– during these dark times when Christians are being persecuted and are desperately looking for someone in a position of leadership to say the right words.

As far as Catholics are concerned, Russia will continue on this murky path until it is duly consecrated, pursuant to the request of the Virgin Mary at Fatima.

Join Marielena’s Special List of Readers

Meanwhile, there is not much the Turks can do about Russia’s annexation of Crimea– since the Turkish economy is highly dependent on importing Russian energy products. More than half of Turkey’s natural gas needs are met by Russia– and Russia is Turkey’s number-one trading partner.

There have been reports that the Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has issued threats to close the Bosporus to Russian ships– if the Crimean Tatars are threatened.  We will be shocked if he follows through with his threat, given Turkey’s economic dependency on Russia.

Ankara stands to be punished if it crosses Moscow– just as when the Russians set up the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK)– which carried out terror attacks against Turkey for several decades. The PKK became active in Lebanon’s  Bekaa Valley under Syrian occupation, during the 1980’s. The PKK continued to receive the tacit support of the Kremlin, even after the Soviet Union “dissolved.”

Turkey entered into peace talks with the PKK– but remains alert to the fact that hardline PKK members are not to be trusted.

Turkey’s dislike of Assad’s regime in Syria does not sit well with Moscow– and Turkey’s support of Syria’s opposition forces has not gone unnoticed in the Kremlin. If the Turks intervene in Syria, the PKK will most likely take up arms against Turkey once again.

It is patently clear that Turkey will not mess with Russia.

Moslems under Russian expansion

This difficult relationship between Moslems and Russians evidently goes back hundreds of years– and Moslems in the region have learned to survive with this tension. This is why Moslem communities have a history of benefitting from their participation in trade networks created through Russian expansion.

Crimean Tatars do not identify fully with the Islamic approach of the Russian mullahs who frequent the Kremlin; nevertheless, the Tatars in Crimea, like their Moslem counterparts in Russia, are accustomed to an imperfect, albeit pragmatic and economically viable modus operandi with their Russian rulers.

The inculcation of an Islamic system, which embraces socialism, has also anchored Moslem communities in the region for a very long time. Moslem leaders in Russia take advantage of this environment by essentially claiming that Russian expansionism acts as a “protection” against the more radical Saudi-style Islamic presence. This will only work with those who do not identify with global jihad– and there is support for global jihad in Crimea.

Embed from Getty Images

With all this in mind, Vladimir Putin is going out of his way to appease the Tatars in Crimea– even offering to make Crimean Tatar an official language, alongside Ukrainian and Russian. Crimean Tatar is a member of the Kypchak branch of Turkic languages.

Given the above scenario, Putin has no choice but to practice delicate diplomacy with Moslems– as part of his determination to maintain a close relationship with Moslem states that identify with Putin’s position against Washington– such as Syria, Iran and others.

Washington, on the other hand, lacks the leadership to do anything about Putin’s aggressive territorial expansion project. And at the end of the day, Putin and Obama have something in common: they are both expanding their socialist agenda. One under the disguise of Christianity– and the other in the name of “social justice.”

Tragically, while Putin is recreating the former Soviet Union, the European Union– which is also highly dependent on Russian energy products– has little to offer, other than socialism and austerity programs.

No wonder there is anxiety in Ankara– as well as in the entire Balkans-Caucasus region.

Someone has to say the truth…
