In spite of this scathing 2014 U.S. State Dept., report on violation of human rights in Cuba, President Obama moved right ahead with his plan to reestablish diplomatic relations with the communist government of Cuba. What a farce! The exercise of diplomacy is anathema to communists!
This is a colossal betrayal of my family members– who along with thousands of other Cubans were imprisoned, tortured and executed by the communists– as well as those who died fighting against Castro’s murderous thugs. Their loss remains alive in my heart. The memory of their sacrifice will be with me forever.
Politicians in Washington who see this as a positive event seem to be oblivious to the fact that under a communist tyranny politics always remain undemocratic, cynical and unconstitutional– that’s why it’s called tyranny!
The only thing that will fix the situation in Cuba is an end to communism with free and transparent elections. In addition, Cuba will remain a security threat not just to the United States– but to the entire Western Hemisphere, in spite of the fact that some politicians in Washington are feeling good about themselves by having removed Cuba from the State Department list of countries who harbor terrorism.
And while the crowds scream “Death to America!” in the streets of Tehran, the Iranian government (which is extremely friendly with the Castro brothers) is delighted about this diplomatic event– which only benefits the communists in Havana. This scenario should further define the magnitude of this disastrous decision.
When the enemies of the United States celebrate Obama’s rapprochement with Cuba– doesn’t that tell you something? But we should not be surprised. Iran’s ruthless rulers know exactly that with Obama in the White House they can say and do just about anything– and they will get away with it as we have recently seen with the “deal” that the U.S. has extended to them.
In fact, the Cuba-Iran relationship with the participation of Venezuela (which is politically and militarily under the influence of the Cuban communist regime)– has grown into a close collaboration to buttress the activity of terrorist groups, such as Hamas and Hezbollah. Two Shiite individuals, Ghazi Nasr Al din and Fawzi Kanaan, have been operating out of Caracas– and work closely with the Cuban regime in facilitating aid to Hezbollah and the growing Iranian presence in Latin America– which believe me has nothing to do with promoting Persian culture and cuisine for tourism purposes. This criminal activity has many tentacles– as it is also carried out through “charitable” fronts– and includes Hamas as a beneficiary. As such, the three regimes of Cuba, Iran and Venezuela dovetail their resources and devious stratagem against United States policies– and rely heavily on Cuba’s international intelligence and illegal arms trade.

These are very dark times in modern history– no matter where we turn. Even the guidelines that used to define conservatism have been replaced with tolerance of the most abominable acts and situations imaginable– from abortion to homosexual “marriage” to befriending tyrants. God help us all.
