Get to know Boris Johnson… no regrets, no apologies

Boris Johnson is one of those unforgettable historic figures who makes it easy for those of us who follow and write about politics: there is little need for additional commentary. And by this I mean that Boris has a way of not leaving a single stone unturned.

From the New York Times article titled, “An Unapologetic Boris Johnson, Diplomat, Meets the Press” (July 19, 2016):

For a diplomat, Mr. Johnson has an unusually lengthy list of impolitic remarks in his past. Besides insulting Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton, he has suggested that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey had sex with a goat, and compared President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia to Dobby the House Elf from the ‘Harry Potter’ series.”

On Hillary Clinton (excerpt from The Telegraph, November 1, 2007):

“She’s got dyed blonde hair and pouty lips, and a steely blue stare, like a sadistic nurse in a mental hospital…”

On Barack Obama and the removal of Winston Churchill’s bust from the Oval Office (excerpt from The Sun, April 22, 2016):

“Some said it was a snub to Britain. Some said it was a symbol of the part-Kenyan President’s ancestral dislike of the British empire – of which Churchill had been such a fervent defender.”

Here is Boris Johnson at a press conference with John Kerry (ITV News-Independent News Service, London):
